JK Harris Lends Florida Family Helping Hand to Claim Tax Benefits
JK Harris Lends Florida Family Helping Hand to Claim Tax Benefits
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (PRWEB) July 10, 2005 -
Thanks to JK Harris, the nationÂs largest tax resolution company, a Stuart, Fla., family can take the $ 8,900 the company helped them recover from the IRS and put it towards a down payment on a new house.
Antelmo and Silvia Santibanez found themselves in a fight to prove to the IRS that their two children belonged to them and that the couple could claim them on their 2004 tax return. The Santibanez family wanted to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit and also earn other deductions on their tax return. In order to claim the EITC, the IRS has to have proof that your children are, well, your children.
According to Angus Smith, an Enrolled Agent for JK Harris & Company and President of the Charleston (SC) Chapter of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, taxpayers are forced to prove their children belong to them when records sometimes get mixed up, people are victims of identity theft or a simple mistake is made. Once that happens, though, and names and numbers donÂt match, it takes a lot of patience and people who know what they are doing to get the record set straight.
ÂI went to many other people, but they didnÂt help me, Silvia said. ÂMy experience with JK Harris & Company was very outstanding.Â
JK Harris submitted piles of documents to prove that the children did indeed belong to Antelmo and Silvia. Included in the reams of proof were social security cards of the children, drivers licenses (to prove last names), social services records, receipts and anything the Santibanez family could get their hands on.
Once the IRS agreed that the tax return was correct, the EITC generated $ 4,900 for the family and other refunds totaled another $ 4,000.
ÂWe can buy a house with that money that you helped me to get, Silvia said about JK Harris. ÂThank you for helping me with my problems.Â
Silvia said that she and her husband did not know where to turn after several failed attempts at getting help, but Âwe found this company (JK Harris) on the computer and it was very helpful.Â
